living abroad’ is defined as a 'Close Relative' and or 'additional  member being resident outside of your country of residence.

 What’s included in the policy?

Kinsure will arrange for flights and pay for transport to the country of residence where your relative is as well as taxi fares to and from the hospital.

How much does it cost?

Annual premiums start from £50.00 for single premium cover. Government taxes on flights can be higher than the annual premium with Kinsure. See ‘our packages’ for full pricing details.

How do I take out a policy?

Go to the ‘our packages’ section of this site and select the policy you require, or call customer services on 0844 800 2632 who will be happy to help.

Can I take out a policy to include an additional person e.g. friend, colleague, Godparent’?

Yes you can. When you have decided on the policy that you wish to purchase you can cover additonal relatives and or friends etc. with a single, couple or family policy.

Are there any age restrictions for taking the policy?

The policyholder has no age restriction. (We highly recommend that you have adequate Travel Insurance.) A ‘close relative’ / ‘additional person’ must be under 75 years of age.

Are pre-existing medical conditions excluded?

Yes, pre-existing medical conditions are excluded from the policy for 2 years - this is known as a 2 year moratorium. If there has been no further medical consultations, treatments, surgery or follow-ups thereafter, the medical condition is covered.

If my relative has a pre-existing medical condition can I still take out a policy?
Yes the policy would cover other serious illnesses, accidents or passing away, excluding any claim emanating from the pre-existing medical conditions.

Would you be able to help even if the claim is not covered e.g. a result of a pre-existing condition?
Yes, as long as the claim falls under the remaining terms of the policy Kinsure will assist in arranging all required travel arrangements. All associated costs have to be paid by the Policyholder.

Why is there an initial 3 month illness exclusion of a claim?
The insurance is for illnesses that are unknown at the time of taking out the policy. The 3 months allows us to keep the premiums competitive by avoiding claims from policies being purchased when an illness may be known but the person has waited to go to the doctors. This exclusion shall not apply if the claim arises as the direct result of an accident or death (subject to pre-existing condition).

What if we find out about the emergency in the middle of the night?

No need to wait those agonising few hours before calling us, our call centre is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so you can contact us at any time and we’ll start making arrangements immediately.

When can I fly?
We will arrange flights as soon as reasonably possible. This could be the same day or an agreed time.

Do I have to pay for the flights?
No Kinsure will arrange for these payments. Additional costs for public transport and taxis you will need to pay and then we ask you to return a claim form with documentation of these costs to be reimbursed. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of the policy for further details.
